THE HIVES' UNIVERSALLY-HERALDED LEX HIVES
STREAMING IN FULL AT THE NEW YORKER
JOSH HOMME-PRODUCED BONUS TRACKS STREAMING NOW

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR KICKS OFF JUNE 19
The Hives' highly-anticipated new album Lex Hives is due out next week, and in celebration, the album is streaming in its entirety at The New Yorker as well as on the band's Facebook page. In addition, the band has unveiled two bonus tracks produced and recorded by Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age): "Insane" is streaming at RollingStone, and "High School Shuffle" is streaming at RCRDLBL. Both tracks are available on the Deluxe Edition of Lex Hives, which is now available to pre-order on iTunes.
Watch The Hives discuss each track from Lex Hives at Paste Magazine:
Due out June 5 via the band's own Disques Hives, the album is receiving overwhelming worldwide acclaim. NME declares "Let it be said, Lex Hives is amazing," and Q Magazine's 4-star review asserts "Lex Hives fizzes with the energy of a debut album, the quintet emphatically back to what they do best." The Toronto Sun
praises "a mighty half-hour of slashing guitars, crashing drums - and
plenty of neo-Jagger swagger from Howlin' Pelle. Lex is more." The
Hives recently returned to Later...with Jools Holland where they performed their hit single "Go Right Ahead."
The band is gearing upfora
North American tour that kicks off June 19 in Washington, D.C. A more
extensive U.S. headlining tour is in the works for this Fall and

ONE OF LONDON'S GREATEST UNDERGROUND BANDS, PIANO MAGIC, RELEASE
BRAND NEW ALBUM 'LIFE HAS NOT FINISHED WITH ME YET'
JUNE 12TH THROUGH SAINT MARIE RECORDS

Photo: John Barrett
The 11th official album by Anglo-French popular underground oxymoron, Piano Magic, ‘Life Has Not Finished With Me Yet’,
sees the group emerging from beneath the wreckage of previous
guitar-heavy albums to re-investigate the darker, more electronic sonic
themes of their earlier work. Instant parallels will inevitably be
drawn with the ghostly chamber pop of 1999’s ‘Artists Rifles’ and the even earlier surreal romanticism of ‘Low Birth Weight’. At the core, once again, Glen Johnson’s
unashamedly nihilistic ruminations on the human condition, though now
shrouded in foggy analog synth washes, pulsing heart beats, cathedral
reverbs and Joe Meek-esque spectral vox. This is an album of
beautiful, indispensible baroque ghostliness, of disconnected hearts
and oceans. Touchstones would be the new, airless beauty of Regis and Raim, the timeless gravitas of Dead Can Dance and the urban, though melodic, isolationist output of late 70’s/early 80’s Factory records.
Listen to 'Slightest Of Threads' (click on image):
Since
1996, Piano Magic have established themselves as something of an
oxymoron: a popular underground band. Previously hailed as a secret
love amongst European darkwave enthusiasts, recent concerts in their
home city of London have revealed a confident foray into quieter, more
fragile, melodic material, eschewing the dynamic, cathartic guitar
barrages of recent albums, ‘Part Monster’ and ‘Ovations’ . Often cited
for their selective collaborations (with Vashti Bunyan, Low, Dead Can Dance), ‘Life Has Not Finished With Me Yet’ is the group stripped back to the core of Glen Johnson, Jerome Tcherneyan, Angele David Guillou, Franck Alba and Alasdair Streer, albeit with a small supporting orchestral cast. Josh Hight (of Irons) adds his voice to ‘Judas’ , ‘The Way We Treat Animals’ and ‘A Secret Never Told’.
‘”Life Has Not Finished With Me Yet’ is released June 12th through Saint Marie Records.

The Mynabirds GENERALS
Team Coco Premieres Full Album Stream
of The Mynabirds, GENERALS
More Tour Dates Added To Summer Tour

We are ecstatic to announce that Late Night With Conan O'Brien's Team Coco premiered the full album stream of The Mynabirds' sophomore album, GENERALS, today (out June 5th on Saddle Creek). Click HERE to listen to the full album.
GENERALS is both a protest record and concept album. It's fueled by a full decade of Burhenn's political frustration and aimed at finding a revolutionary yet pacifist way in a world where, these days, it seems warring comes quick. Musically you can hear echoes of early PJ Harvey, politically-charged Nina Simone and Low-era David Bowie. It gets down and hip hop dirty, flirts with African melodies and rhythms, goes four-on-the-floor for all out dance jams and has plenty of percussion. Burhenn even plays drums herself on a couple of songs, and a 5-gallon bucket in homage to DC street Go-Go on another.
Lyrically, GENERALS sings the voice of the collective frustration, then moves beyond that. "It was important for me that this record made sense of my own anger and turned it into positive energy," Burhenn says. "I needed it to be transformative – of both the individual and the body politic. It's as much a meditation on Walt Whitman's hope for America as Gandhi's directive to 'be the change you want to see in the world.'"
The album's name comes from a Richard Avedon photo entitled "Generals of the Daughters of the American Revolution." Looking at the portrait of upper class ladies in their pristine satin gowns, Burhenn considered her own supposed eligibility to be a member of DAR and thought about what true revolutionary American women look like. The lineage of women that have stood up to injustice for well over a hundred years – women like Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks, Gloria Steinem, Naomi Wolf – they get their hands dirty. And Burhenn wanted to pay tribute to that.
In conjunction with the release of the album, Burhenn is launching a portrait project called The New Revolutionists (www.thenewrevolutionists.org). In an election year when so much time, energy and money will be spent on political contests, Burhenn wanted to shine a light on women making a difference – often on shoestring or even nonexistent budgets – in their own communities all over America, whether they're making headlines or not.

NEW ALBUM – WIXIW – OUT JUNE 5TH
CD, VINYL & DIGITAL FORMAT
Liars
are Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross. In preparation for
their upcoming sixth studio release, Liars have partnered with NPR for a “First Listen” to premiere WIXIW. B
eing touted as “the best Radiohead album since Kid A,”
we are excited for you to hear the album in its’ entirety as the band
embraces whole new levels of anxiety, darkness and mystery.
In support of WIXIW ‘s release on June 5th, 2012
the band will be touring this summer commencing in New York City on
June 20th at Webster Hall. Oneohtrix Point Never has just been
announced as the opener for the New York City show.
All tour dates are currently ON SALE!
The band recently released a video for their first single “No. 1 Against The Rush.” In
traditional Liars fashion the plot is drenched in layers of creepy
madness, following each member of the band as they are abducted by a
shadowy figure in downtown LA.
Aaron Hemphill discusses collaboration behind the scenes with the Director, LA-based artist Todd Cole
(known for his films for the fashion king Rodarte): “Beginning with
Patrick Daughters' video for “Plaster Casts Of Everything,” we've
really enjoyed giving directors complete freedom in executing a visual
interpretation of a Liars song entirely based on their own
reaction…free from any factual references or creative input from us. We
were really won over by Todd Cole's enthusiasm for “No. 1 Against The
Rush”, as well as his very musical and rhythmic pacing in his
treatment. Despite being wrapped head to toe in plastic, being dragged
through broken glass, and being strangled to the ground, we ha d the
easiest job to do on the set and we eagerly look forward to any new
forms of punishment that can be inflicted upon us in making the next
video.”
The video was recently featured on the last episode of MTV’s Weird Vibes!
Watch it here: http://youtu.be/ggR6RuBh8I0
“No. 1 Against The Rush”is available via digital download on May 29th and on 12" in June preceding the 11-track album, WIXIW (pronounced “wish you”), out June 5th, 2012. The single will feature remixes of the title track from Vince Clarke (Erasure / VCMG / Yaz) and Matmos plus an exclusive b-side, “We’ll Never Learn."
This exclusive remix is by People Get Ready, and will unavailable elsewhere, so listen to it while you can!
Angus Andrew explains the album title WIXIW,
“’wish you’ is a familiar and universal sentiment of longing and hope,
but when misspelt becomes uniquely shrouded and difficult to interpret,
which in many ways is representative of our music and the songs we
wrote for this album."
WIXIW is Liars’ sixth studio album and the follow up to 2010’s critically lauded Sisterworld, which garnered an 8.1 Pitchfork rating and Best New Music distinction.
The
album, with artwork designed by John Wiese, will be available on CD,
deluxe vinyl (with CD) and limited edition vinyl with silk-screened
embossed covers hand dipped in black wax by the band. Pre-order is
available from http://liars.sandbag.uk.com where you can see images of the limited edition run being produced.
Recorded
in LA, self-produced by the band with additional production from Daniel
Miller and mixed by Tom Biller, the album is hard to shake, tough to
pin down, and impossible to get out of one’s head even after an initial
listen. Simultaneously the most accessible and most challenging release
from these iconoclasts, it is both a summation of Liars’ work up to
now, and a complete break from anything you’d ever heard the band do
previously.
“If we aren’t confusing people, it’s not us,” Andrew laughs. “If we aren’t confusing ourselves with what we do, then we’ve failed.”

Here's the new single from CocoRosie, it's a stand-alone single on Touch & Go and produced by Dave Sitek.

CocoRosie - We Are On Fire (Single)
Street Date, June 5th, 2012, Touch and Go

The
single was recorded with David Sitek in Los Angeles this past Winter.
CocoRosie also recorded early in the spring of 2012 with Antony Hegarty
at their home studio in Brooklyn. Antony Hegarty sings on "Tearz For
Animals."
CocoRosie's thoughts on the recording sessions:
"Working with Dave is a creative exorcism -musical kinship without boundary."
The "We Are On Fire" artwork marks the first collaboration between artist Jesse Hazelip and Bianca (aka Twin Rivers). The "Tearz For Animals" art work came from a prison exchange project; drawings from the inside, between friends, as a means to hope.
In the past couple of years since the release of Grey Oceans:
Sierra produced the skeleton for an industrial opera 2011-2012
