PINS Share Cover Of The Misfits 'Hybrid Moments'

New Album Wild Nights
Out June 9th On Bella Union

Announce UK Tours With Wire And Drenge

Manchester all-female four-piece PINS have just released a new 7" in the UK for 'Too Little Too Late'. The B-side to the 7" is a cover of The Misfits 'Hybrid Moments', a track the band also perform live, which was recorded for Part Time Punks and mixed byJosiah Mazzaschi. PINS' Faith Vern describes it as "a simple and perfect pop song! We started to play it live to make everyone dance, we recorded it with Part Time Punks and gave it a PINS stamp with lots of choir girl harmonies."

PINS have announced the release of their new album Wild Nights on June 9th.  Recorded in Joshua Tree at Rancho De La Luna with Dave Catching (QOTSA, Eagles of Death Metal) and Hayden Scott, and mixed in New York with Ben Baptie at Atomic Sound NYC (Mark Ronson), PINS second album Wild Nights will be released through Bella Union on June 9th.

The video for the first single 'Too Little Too Late' sees PINS, dressed exclusively bySaint Laurent, cut between visuals of screaming and swearing girls amidst overflowing glitter and powder, 'Too Little Too Late' is the perfect taster of the bands new album. Opening with a fearless drumbeat and heavy bassline, the track slows into a sparse momentary instrumental before reverting back to Faith's alluring vocal and finally stampeding heavily into a fuzzed up sound clash of guitars and drums.

Mitski Takes SXSW By Storm, Tour w/ Screaming Females

Mitski

Takes SXSW By Storm + National Spring Tour
with Screaming Females and Speedy Ortiz

LISTEN: “Square” (live solo piano version) Out Today

Bury Me At Make Out Creek with Unreleased Bonus Material,
Re-Released 4/7 via Don Giovanni Records

"visceral, openhearted indie-rock songs" – The New York Times, Jon Pareles

"Mitski Miyawaki wrings magic out of contrasts: Her incredible vocal range hits crystalline, sonorous highs that often recall Mazzy Star, while the music she’s playing has a gritty, metallic brashness" – Rolling Stone

"Of all the performances we witnessed last week at Austin's annual South By Southwest festival, one show stealer was particularly arresting: Mitski." – SPIN

" ...triumphant moments of misery exploited by addictive melodies and an unbridled sense of self-imposed empowerment." – Stereogum

"On record, her voice is intense, moving from a gentle hum into high-pitched ad libs, and live it’s even more impressive. From opener Townie all the way to the final track – which is somewhere between Willie o Winsbury and a Kate Bush song – she is completely engaging and delivers the kind of performance that doesn’t belong in a concrete yard surrounded by portable toilets."
– The Guardian US

"The choruses here soar like power pop, but are subdued by tempo and fidelity, while cheap drum machines are deployed as much for their tone as their rhythm." – Pitchfork

"The entire record is full of that kind of standing-on-a-cliff vulnerability, manifesting in shades of rough-hewn folk and discordant indie pop." – FADER

NYC-based songwriter extraordinaire Mitski will re-release her breakout record Bury Me At Make Out Creek, April 7th via Don Giovanni Records. This release will mark her joining of the Don Giovanni family and includes special unreleased bonus material. In celebration, fans will have new chances to experience Mitski’s raw, soul-shaking live show as she joins Screaming Females and Speedy Ortiz on the road this spring.

With vivid lyrical imagery, buzzed out guitars and evocative vocals, Mitski has created a unique sound built upon her academic musical background, and as she makes the shift from concert hall to DIY venue her new relationship with the storied label will certainly continue to propel the transition. Today she shares the intimate bonus track “Square” (live solo piano version) which is available to post and share here

While attending SUNY Purchase and studying music composition, Mitski released two records inspired by orchestral energy and expansive in their own right. The brilliant writer came into her own with 2014’s Bury Me At Make Out Creek, immersed in fuzzy guitars, pounding drums, and poetically poignant lyrics, and created a sound all her own. Be sure to catch her live on tour this spring!

WIRE NEW SELF-TITLED ALBUM DUE APRIL 21 VIA PINKFLAG

US TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Listen: "Split Your Ends" via The Quietus or SoundCloud

After recently announcing news of their new self-titled album, due  April 13th  via p inkflag,   Wire  has shared a new track  'Split Your Ends'  showcasing the record's heavier side. 'Split Your Ends' is also a fine example of the lyrical subject matter on the record, encompassing love songs, cryptic narratives and coded messages. Singer/guitarist Colin Newman asked bassist/vocalist Graham Lewis to send over some unfinished, unformatted text so he wouldn't be bound by what to use for the chorus. This material spawned two songs written on the same day, 'Split Your Ends' and another album track entitled 'In Manchester'.

Right from their inception in 1976, back in the first stirrings of punk, Wire went about making music in a subversive, conceptual way, setting themselves apart from both their peers and their influences.

Their 13th studio album - simply titled WIRE- is comprised of material that was written with the album in mind but had been performed on toured extensively first. Songs that Newman introduced to the group in the studio just prior to recording are also included. The idea was to get the most spontaneous reaction possible from the musicians, and far from the rough and ready results than one might have expected.

WIRE is full of swooning pop melodies with a 60s tinge and an irresistible, near driving rhythmic momentum. One can recognize certain melodic inflections, guitar and bass motifs, and drum rhythms from Wire's idiosyncratic vocabulary but it has a remarkable freshness.

Big money offers have been made to Wire to become part of the Heritage Rock industry, to get the original line-up back together and play only 70s music. These have all been unequivocally turned down. As fun as that might be, Wire has their eyes set  on making new, potent music with the promise of more in the future.

"The point where our personal narratives meet is all about change - moving on and keeping it interesting for ourselves," says Newman. "We're in it for the long haul and this is a one-way trip."

WIRE will be launched by the fourth event in the band's DRILL series entitled DRILL : LEXINGTON - five nights (14-18 April) at the Lexington in London with Wire headlining, plus a different curated support each night. This will be followed by a UK and US tour. See full dates below.
